Making sense of our world...like the birds, bees and other critters

Friends of the Library Book Talk, Wednesday Sept. 18, 2:30 p.m. in the Robson Ranch Library.

Explore the world through the senses of the non-human living creatures on our planet in Ed Yong's "An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us."

In this 2022 bestseller, which also won many literary awards, naturalist Yong coaxes us beyond the confines of our own senses, allowing us to perceive the skeins of scent, waves of electromagnetism, and pulses of pressure that surround us. We understand the world as beetles, turtles, fish, bat, crocodiles and other creatures that use senses humans don't normally employ.

We also learn about new discoveries in the field of perception.

Read the New York Times review. FOL member Jane Scholz will lead the discussion.
